We offer a truly innovative and unique outdoor
recreational experience for the vacationer who would like to have all the pleasures of
camping without any of the work. We offer a fully catered camping experience with gourmet
dinners.
Travelers looking for something different can now enjoy the"OLD WEST" by roughing it in luxury in Oregon's
historic Wallowa Valley.
We offer six and ten day catered-camping wilderness trips
that include fishing, horseback riding, river rafting, and hiking
in the region of Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. They have several itineraries that
include rodeos and other special events in Wallowa Valley. Itineraries may be tailored to
fit the needs of groups of 8 or more.
All guests sleep in real teepees, eat genuine "Cowboy"
gourmet campfire cooking and spend evenings around roaring campfires listening to
stories about the Old West and enjoying traditional Western music by local artists. Days
may be spent fishing Wallowa lake, the Grande Ronde, Imnaha, or Snake rivers. Fishing
expeditions are lead by experienced guides who know where the fish are biting. Raft or jet
boat trips on local rivers may bearranged from mild to wild! Please remember to bring a
camera. wildlife and scenery abound. Other activities include a tram ride up 8,000
foot Mount Howard and a tour of Joseph's international art community including a bronze
foundry, galleries, and museums.
The lush Wallowa Valley is the ancient home of the Nez Perce tribe of Native Americans.
Great Western Adventures will schedule visits to the Nez Perce Tribal Center as part of
the itineray when the Center opens. (Scheduled for the year 2000)
All our tours begin in Boise, Idaho where Great Western Adventures will meet visitors and
transport them to the Wallowas. The company provides all transportation during the camping
sessions. Prices are $1,800 for a six day
session and $3,000 for a ten day session. |
