ALAM KOOH PEAK (4850 m)
The mountainous region of Takht-e-Soleyman and AlamKooh is
situated in the eastern north of western Alborz and in the south of Chalous town.
Having some peaks with an altitude of over 4400 m and also of the high northern surface of
Alam Kooh and great glaciers, this mountain ranges are considered as important climbing
regions for expert climbers in different seasons; besides, this region because of its
various geographical aspects has lots of beautiful and different routes and is suitable
too for easy and delightful climbing and trekking.
Takht-e-Soleyman is surrounded from the north by Caspian Sea, from the east by Chalous
river, from the south by Alamoot and Taleghan valleys and from the west throughly by a
great forest valley named Sehezar which consisits more than 50 peaks each with an altitude
of over 4000 m. This region because of having mountainous area with some glacier slopes
beyond the thick forests of Kelar Dasht and Abbas Abad has been taken into consideration
of foreign explorers who are interested in Iran's glaciers from 1902 and even many years
ago.
Another important matter which should be taken into account in order to recognize or
distinguish Takht-e-Soleyman region is the existance of great glaciers that cover the
center ridge of Alamkooh from each side, some of these glaciers are as follows: - Haft
Khan - Khersan - Alam Chal - Chaloon - Marjikosh
